In early 1994 a lot of letters and faxes crossed Europe while I2UIY was trying to put together a group of friends that would cooperate creating the Eu Sprint Contest. Someone was interested and someone was not.

We immediately realized that involving the National Associations in this project was not possible, it had to be something done by OMs for OMs without any 'official' cooperation. After some time it come out that there were four guys that really wanted spend time making real this project and the Eu Sprint Gang was born: DL6RAI, G4BUO, I2UIY and OK2FD.

Being 'alone' was not a real problem for us because we decided to avoid any prizes so sponsorships and money were not our main concern. We just thought that it was nice having four different Managers for four different events. The 'weight' of the work was not a problem but transparency was a 'must' and having four different managers could help.

So we split the four events among the four managers and it worked until when Ben, DL6RAI, was called to become the new DARC WAEDC Contest Manager so he had to give up from the Eu Sprint. His help was precious because with the help of DL2NBU he developed the Log Checking software that we still use.

The EU Sprint Gang has been done by only 3 characters for a couple of years but we were looking for one more guy to join in and help us with log checking. After we saw how much cooperation we got in the last years from the members of WWYC (World Wide Young Contesters) Club, we thought that one of them could be the right choice. So we decided to invite Hrle, 9A6XX, to become the 4th member of the Eu Sprint Gang. He kindly accepted so 9A6XX will be involved with us from November 1, 2004. Welcome!
